Quake 2 Glossary

This glossary holds information on common things you will see or hear in connection or while playing Quake 2.

A

alias

Command: Allows you to set up a new command, ie alias die "say I give up...;kill"

B

bind

Command: Set a key, ie bind J "say Hello"

binds

Noun: Slang for your keys, ie What binds?

brb

Acronym: Be Right Back, ie brb, need a beer.

F

frag

Verb: Technical name given to the lawful cybermurder of a fellow quaker, ie I will frag you.
Noun: Technical name given to a lawful cybermurder of a fellow quaker, ie I got another frag.

ffs

Acronym: For Fucks Sake, ie I had lag, ffs.

G

gib

Verb: Technical name given to the lawful cybermutilation of the cybercorpse of a fellow quaker.
Noun: Technical name given to the bits of the cybercorpse after cybermutilation, ie Wow, look at those gibs.

gg

Acronym: Good Game.

H

hpb

Acronym: High Ping Bastard.
Technical name given to a bastard with a high ping, ie a modem... imho a contradiction in terms, but i've heard it.

imho

Acronym: In My Humble Opinion, ie imho you shouldn't kill people when they have lag
Variants: imo (In My Opinion)

L

lag

Noun: Delay between a client action getting sent out and a confirmation reply being recieved, in milliseconds. The more lag you get, the worse it is.

lol

Acronym: Laughing Out Loud.

lpb

Acronym: Low Ping Bastard.
Technical name given to a bastard with a low ping, ie has an ISDN connection.

ping

Noun: Technical name given to the time taken to send information to and from the server, in milliseconds.

S

slpb

Acronym: Super Low Ping Bastard.
Technical name given to a bastard with a very low ping, ie has a T3 connection.
